Description

24 x 24 inch Wisconsin state route 81 highway marker.  made to the 1962 specification that simplified the state route design to say WIS instead of the previous WISCONSIN.  a variant of this sign, with the WIS occasionally included, is on the books to the present day (though WIS was officially dropped by 1980).  this particular example is dated June of 1966 (6-66) on the back.
condition is as shown in the photos.  sign is black screen print on yellowish-white reflective sheeting, on half-inch thick wood.  it lies completely straight and flat with patina commensurate with its service.
