Vintage Painted Wooden School Caution Sign

Description

A vintage caution sign in the form of a square painted on plywood. The sign indicates a school with illustrated children holding books.
The sign is 24" square and 1/2" thick. The standardization of roadside signs did not catch on until 1935 which was also at the beginning of the industrial use of plywood. The sign is in worn condition obviously from being hung outside, you can see the brighter paint on the back where it was attached to a post.
