This is a one owner Dragon purchased by my father (now deceased) who was one of the leading sound engineers in the audio and recording field. He purchased this Dragon (and another) about 1988 directly from Japan. Frequently he conferred with the engineers of NakamichI as he did with those of other leading manufacturers like Schoeps, Altec and Sony. Highly skilled and versed in sound recording equipment, he always maintained this Dragon to specifications and functionality. His use of it was always of a highly professional nature. He used it without incident or limitations. It has performed in its formats and has been cared for well. I know the problems with these machines and I am not an engineer like my dad but I would call it a very well cared for Dragon. From time to time it probably should have a maintenance check but it seems to perform fine.
Regarding the specifications and unique characteristics of the Dragon, it’s auto reverse play, auto azimuth adjustment skill and ability to do your own manual calibrating for dolby drew my dad to its purchase. This Dragon is cosmetically very clean with a few tiny scratches barely visible. It’s been in environmentally clean space always. So, yes it works, it’s been very lightly used and is a really nice unit. The original owners manual is in mint condition. We hope it goes to a nice home. And we are also disposing of other very high-end vintage electronics pieces in our old age. They also are choice pieces from my father.
