Vintage Mid Century Modern Lucite Magazine Rack Shoe Store Display

Description

This is an unusual vintage Mid Century Modern Lucite magazine rack with an aluminum shoe heel on top as the handle.
I can’t be certain, but I would estimate it dates circa 1940s or 1950s.
It measures 14 1/2 inches tall at its highest point (306.8 cm). It is 12 3/4 inches wide x 6 1/2 inches deep (32.4 cm x 16.5 cm).
The entire piece looks like it was made by someone for a specific purpose. The most logical thing is that it was a magazine rack in a shoe store. I wish I knew its history!
Unfortunately, it has quite a bit of wear to the Lucite. There are numerous scratches, as if someone had taken a Brillo pad to the center piece and parts of the side pieces. There are dots and drip like stains all around which do not come off with just soap and water. There is other assorted wear to the finish.
It’s a very solid and sturdy piece . Hopefully, someone can figure out a way to restore it.
It weighs 7 pounds 5 1/2 ounces (3.334 kg).
