WITH 3 OYSTER KNIVES
Here is an American East Coast Classic -The Carvel Hall Company was established in 1895 as the Charles D Briddell Mfg. Company in Crisfield, Maryland. Up for auction is a RARE Vintage Original Carvel Hall Oyster Knife Cardboard Box which was a Counter Advertising Display Piece. Don't find these old advertising counter display cardboard boxes very often.
The Original Cardboard Store Counter Display Advertising Box is in Good Condition although the lid is unattached from the main box.  There is a portion of the cardboard missing at the top left corner.  However, the lid does fold up and functions well as the Display.  There is what appears to be water staining on the box although
it did not harm the cardboard at all.  There are some slight rips, bends as well as some separation of the layers of cardboard.   The graphics are in blue and they are great!!  And it Displays very well !!!
"Carvel Hall Professional Oyster Knife and Known for Highest Quality Wherever Seafood Tools are Used" is printed at the top along with a Large Oyster Knife, and sailboats on the water.   On the front it reads, "Used with Satisfaction in Seafood Canneries, Hotels, Restaurants, Raw Bars and in the Home. Carvel Hall Steelsmiths - Great Blades  Since 1895". More Sailboats on the water are on the front of the box along with the Company Logo for Carvel Hall inside of an oval.  On each end the graphics are of a Steelsmith hammering on an Anvil along with the Carvel Hall Company Logo inside of an oval surrounded by a nautical rope and knots.  Reads "Dozen  No".
As a bonus, there are 3 Vintage Wooden Handled Oyster Knives included.  They may be Carvel Hall Oyster Knives, but any markings have been worn off through years of use.  They are in good used condition and very functional.  They measure approximately 6 1/2 inches in length. They have a wooden handle in a tear drop or oval shape which is either Maple or Ash Wood. There is a steel blade with a point for opening the oysters measuring about 3 1/2 inches in length.  Down on the Eastern Shore of Maryland or the DELMARVA Peninsula, these
great old oyster knives were known as the "Chesapeake Stabber".   Please review all of the photographs to determine the condition of the Oyster Knife Display Box and the 3 Oyster Knives.
The box says that it holds a Dozen Oyster Knives.  Here's a great start and you will have fun finding and collecting the other 9 to complete the collection.
