Description

15 by 16 inch Oregon state route 86 highway sign.  the sign is made to the 1946 state specification which introduced flat wooden route markers with reflective beading or sheeting, with the particular sheeting technology in use on this sign dating it to approximately 1956-1957.  by 1958, Oregon was using the standard federal fonts.
condition is as shown in the photos.  sign is screen printed black on smooth reflective engineer grade Scotchlite sheeting, on half-inch thick wood.  it lies completely straight and flat, and has patina commensurate with its service.
