    Description

48 by 24 inch Massachusetts South Station highway sign.  the sign dates to July, 1962.  it is made to the 1962 Mass specification that changed from white signs to green.  South Station is of course one of the major public transportation centers of Boston, with the MBTA (still called the MTA in 1962) commuter rail trains fanning out as far as Providence.  the Red Line subway, and also Amtrak, connects at South Station.
condition is as shown in the photos.  sign is green screen print on old style yellowish-white engineer grade reflective sheeting, on a non-reflective black painted background.  substrate is half-inch thick wood.  it lies completely straight and flat, with patina commensurate with its service.
the sign is 4 feet by 2 feet, and weighs around 22 pounds.  not heavy, but bulky.  please inquire about local pickup, or delivery to Carlisle, Hershey, or Leominster MA ALPCA plate meet.  otherwise, shipping to be done with FedEx Ground/Home - if the shipping cost seems wonky, please inquire. every so often eBay really eats from the wrong end on this.
signs guaranteed old, original, authentic.  bid with confidence.
