22 by 22 inch Massachusetts State Law, Stop When School Bus Stops highway sign.  the sign is made to a standard that Massachusetts invented whole-cloth in the early 1950s.  the state used this sign style for a few years before changing to a more standard rectangular regulatory sign in 1961 when the federal government declined to adopt their pentagonal uniqueness.
condition is as shown in the photos.  sign is screen printed on white paint, on half-inch thick wood.  it lies completely straight and flat, and appears to be completely unused.  no mounting holes are drilled out, which is unusual and is definitely indicative of a lack of installation.
