Iowa state route 16 highway road sign 1930s cast iron 92

Description

16 by 16 inch Iowa state route 16 sign.  the sign is originally made to 1926 specification, out of cast iron as Iowa did until about 1934.  on the back, a route 92 shield is printed on reflective sheeting, as Iowa recycled their cast iron signs well into the 1970s (!)
condition is as shown in the photos.  sign is a cast iron route 16 that has been repainted, likely by a collector, many years ago.  the 92 side is completely original.  a lovely sign with some great patina.  please note that this sign weighs about 14 pounds, as it is solid iron, 1/4" thick background with an additional 1/8" legend.
