he small number of talented professional athletes from North America who also were gifted painters includes such individuals as Curt Flood, Tommy McDonald and Ernie Barnes. Among these, only Ernie Barnes became more famous as an artist than as a football player (NFL, AFL, CFL).
This is a complete set of 11.5 by 17.5 inch, outstanding condition
lithographs
(Near mint or better except for a few small spots near the edges of 1 & 4) titled, "A Portfolio of Football Art" (Five Drawings; The Company Of Sports Art; Ron Mix Director), depicting various scenes from professional football.
Each of the signatures of Ernie Barnes follows a personalization “To Al Wester.”  The portfolio cover is also included but has some wear.  These were obtained directly the personal collection of Notre Dame Fighting Irish broadcaster and New Orleans play-by-play announcer Al Wester.
