Description
Colorado Monarch Pass US-50 sign.Up for sale today is this Colorado Monarch Pass sign. Made to the exact 1948 standard used by the state of Colorado until the 1970s when green highway signs with white text took over. This sign was posted at the top of the pass on US highway 50, at 11,312 feet elevation, alongside a second guide sign with the words "Continental Divide" and the elevation. (please see my other auctions for the companion sign!)
This sign is flat printed on steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 10 pounds, 6 ounces. the original continental divide signs came in less wieldy 36x45 size, so this one is a precise rescaling to 18 by 22 1/2 inches.
(if you would like the full size version, please ask as I can certainly make one!)
This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!
I can of course make these signs with
any route number of your choice,
and not just this style, but others with the reflectors, the embossed style that other states used, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from the era. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A.
Figure about 12 pounds for shipping, packed with care and mailed from zip code 61833.
Thank you for your purchase!
