    Description

Big Sur, California boundary highway sign.
Up for sale today is this Big Sur, California location sign. Made to the exact standards as used in the late 1920s, and early 1930s in various places in the state of California for locations that did not merit a town sign with the population and elevation marked.
The sign is 20 x 5 3/4 inches and weighs a solid 2 pounds, 15 ounces, as it is constructed out of durable, heavy steel, for an appearance that is nearly indistinguishable from the old porcelain signs that were originally used back in the day.  (if you would like a different town name, I can certainly make that as well!)
I can make these signs in several variations, including the Auto Club of Southern California and the California State Auto Association styles from the 1910s to the 1950s and the California Division of Highways style from the 1940s to the 1960s.  Please do not hesitate to inquire!
This is a high quality, heavy steel sign.  Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!
Would you like a number not seen here? Or perhaps a different style? I can of course make these signs with
any city name of your choice,
and not just this style, but others with the reflectors, the embossed style that other states used, and even the classic mileage, direction, and route shield signs from the era. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A.
