    Description
    1967 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday Sedan
The Oldsmobile 98, (spelled Ninety-Eight from 1952 to 1991, and Ninety Eight from 1992 to 1996), is the full-size flagship model of Oldsmobile that was produced from 1940 until 1942, and then from 1946 to 1996. The name, reflecting a "Series 90" fitted with an 8-cylinder engine first appeared in 1941 and was used again after American consumer automobile production resumed post-World War II. It was, as it would remain, the division's top-of-the-line model, with lesser Oldsmobiles having lower numbers such as the A-body 66 and 68, and the B-body 76 and 78. The Series 60 was retired in 1949, the same year the Oldsmobile 78 was replaced by the 88. The Oldsmobile 76 was retired after 1950. This left the two remaining number-names to carry on into the 1990s as the bread and butter of the full-size Oldsmobile lineup until the Eighty Eight-based Regency replaced the 98 in 1997.
This Oldsmobile 4 door 98 Holiday hardtop sedan is the closest you can come to a Caddy without actually getting into a Caddy. Just beautiful condition, long and straight slab sides and plenty of chrome trim to go around. The hits just keep on coming with the interior, which is beautifully preserved, and all the conveniences which makes the motoring that much more enjoyable. Always garage keptand owned by the same family for the last 40 years and lightly driven since only accruing 17,777 title verified miles in its 55 years, maintenance and upkeep was performed as necessary to keep this time capsule ticking. If the lines and chrome aren't enough to reel you in then the plush cloth and vinyl seating along with the frameless side glass is sure to seal the deal.
    Exterior
Bathed in Cameo Ivory, (gotta love the 60's color names), the steel panels on this are factory straight and the gaps are consistent to assembly line specs. We note a few dings and scratches on the body sides along with a larger area of paint chip off and surface rust on the right rear of the hood, but invasive rust is nowhere to be seen. Following right up with that we note plenty of mirror-like chrome on the bumpers and wheel wells and the rockers. A large chromed trim surrounds the panoramic windshield, and bringing up the rear are two vertical tail lights partially integrated into the bumper with a slight fin. Covering the roof is a clean black vinyl top that shows as almost new. No more Caddy talk here as this is your father's Oldsmobile, a long, long straight hood covers the massive engine bay and a nearly as long trunk lid covers a 3-bedroom apartment size trunk. Standard Oldsmobile wheel covers with a central Olds rocket logo are all 4 corners and are wrapped in thin whites. Lest we forget the thin fender skirts over the top of the rear wheels for that extra touch of class.
    Interior
Talk about luxury and clean, burgundy vinyl covers the door panels which have the toggles for the power windows, power seat and mirror joystick. A nice smattering of flourish cloth races through these panels and gives extra pizazz, especially with all the chrome and stainless highlighting. Moving to the interior, the lap of luxury awaits in the form of a burgundy vinyl front bench seat with tuck and roll flourish broadcloth inserts and a single button on the seat upper. A central armrest upfront can be folded down for extra comfort. This front bench presents as factory fresh and has held its own nicely. The rear bench is just as inviting and appears to hardly have been used. The original wood applique paneled dash with 3 round gauge inserts to house the speedo, clock and a bevy of engine vital gauges sits cleanly in front of the original steering wheel atop the factory tilt column. Gauges and levers are all clean and green, chrome and burgundyactually, and the factory AM/FM radio is in its factory location. Clean burgundy carpet with a touch of fade floods the floors under the burgundy Olds floor mats on the interior and above is a tight perforated vinyl headliner.
    Drivetrain
Under the massive hood is an equally as massive 425ci V8 which is original to the car. A single Rochester Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor is atop safely tucked under the orange Oldsmobile Super Rocket air cleaner assembly. ATH400 3-speed automatic transmission is on backsending power to the 12-bolt axle with 3.08 gears and helps propel this massive car down the highway.
    Undercarriage
A few areas of some surface rust, but certainly nothing remarkable. Frame is stable with the factory coating of black paint, as are floor pans and rockers. Power drum brakes are all around and we note the original spiral style shocks for the 4 link and coil spring rear suspension. Up front is an independent front suspension with coil springs and a solid single exhaust system is on and looks just fab.
    Drive-Ability
She fired right up as expected for this pristine 98 and ran through our test track simply fabulously. Great handling, an awesome smooth ride, and plenty of Olds power. All controls were in working condition with the exception of the radio not belting out tunes and the rear defogger not operating. I also noted that the turn signals only operate when the headlights are turned off.
Interestingly enough this is the first of its ilk we've had here at Classic Auto Mall from the full-size line of Oldsmobile in the mid 60's. It's large with straight steel in nice ivory paint, and a very clean burgundy interior, nicely preserved trim, and an all-around big car to let all those know you've arrived! Not your father's Oldsmobile, but it definitely could be yours. There is lots of space surrounding this gem.
